From humble beginnings over 70 years ago, EAA AirVenture has evolved from a small gathering of aircraft and aviators into a grand, weeklong gathering known as the World´s Greatest Aviation event.
AirVenture is organized by EAA – Experimental Aircraft Association. EAA, was founded in 1953 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by a group of passionate hobby experimental airplane builders and enthusiasts. Over time EAA expanded its scope and mission to include antiques, classics, warbirds, aerobatic aircraft, ultralights, helicopters, and contemporary manufactured aircraft.
EAA is the only association that offers the fun and camaraderie of participating in the flying, building, and restoring of recreational aircraft with the most passionate community of aviation enthusiasts.
EAA AirVenture attracts more than 650,000 visitors from all over the world, more than 21,000 aircraft operations in the 11-day period (that means in average ca 148 takeoffs / landings per hour of airport opening), almost 850 exhibitors, 1,400 forums and workshops. 2023 has delivered record results, and 2024 is likely to be even bigger.
