Foreign Object Debris / Damage (FOD) are any objects, particles, substance, debris, which are not where they are supposed to be, and could represent a hazard to an aircraft operation.
FOD prevention is an important safety and quality control concept not only in aviation, aerospace, but also in manufacturing, military and similar environments.
